Although few people have noticed, Trump’s “wince score” has been trending downward for quite a few years. For the most part, the brash/rash Trump has taken a back-seat as the more statesmanlike Trump has ascended. I’ve found myself not grimacing nearly as much as before — back when Trump was the King of the Unforced Error. The, “you didn’t need to say that but you can’t help yourself” Trump is, although not completely gone, in a state of semi-retirement.
However, due to this legacy, people are quite used to ignoring statements that have a bit of bravado around them. We’ve also gotten used to his trolling sense of humor — like having a picture with “the guys” — featuring RFK Jr. eating a Big Mac. Yes…that’s Trump and yes…it’s pretty funny. “Just Trump being Trump” we think to ourselves. Which is why a few recent interrelated statements haven’t been taken seriously. Namely, making Canada the 51st state, buying Greenland, and…taking back the Panama Canal.
If you look at the “current event historians” - yes it sounds like an oxymoron - but it isn’t. It’s people that look at present behavior or geo-political suggestions in light of historical and potentially real-time outcomes. What the current event historians are all predicting is that we are going from a great power world (that would be us) to a multi-polar world with the CCP and the U.S. being in the 1/1 position but Russia and their alliances - in particular with Iran - forming a formidable third. The BRICS countries - and I think the jury is still out whether a bunch of weak currencies and governments can form a viable alternative to a (still for the most part) oil backed dollar - also suggest a turn toward a new multi-polar situation.
Of course, Canada makes perfect sense economically, culturally and from an energy standpoint. We do prop up their country via trade. In turn, their government does a lot of stuff with the CCP that we shouldn’t be particularly fond of. For instance, my FB friend Elizabeth Nickson, has done great work chronicling how the Tong criminal gangs of China have destroyed the average Canadians ability to buy a home in Vancouver because the real-estate market is nothing but a giant CCP/Tong money-laundering operation. We damage the CCP and enhance our energy independence by adding Canada.
Greenland is also a natural fit….and, the population is only 57,000 people so not too much to disrupt there. Denmark is only involved due to guys with boats raping and pillaging a while back. As for the Panama Canal…we built it due to its strategic importance. Then, a president that has about 3 more days of pre-internment pomp and circumstance, gave it away out of some far-left colonial guilt. It’s now run by China. Yes…the same China that runs Vancouver and other parts of Canada. Heck, we might just as well nationalize all the countries from Panama North….think of all the money we’d save building a wall in only one narrow location. For now…I’m just fine with the canal but…opportunity may well be knocking.
In a multi-polar world being big, strong - and energy self-sufficient - is massively important…both from an economic and security sense. So, let’s not think Trump is simply wagging the dog or cracking a few one-liners…they are good ideas and it may well be the perfect time to act on them. Oh, and Europe still gets to be Europe…knock yourselves out over there…we have other plans. Happy to chat once you get a few low carbon ducks in a row…
